Rivarossi
Additional information received from: Paolo Busnelli.

PIC-R

Rivarossi was founded in Como in 1945 by Allessandro Rossi and has been making toys since 1948. Besides their well-known modeltrains Rivarossi also made some 1/87 models and a trolleybus system. The Rivarossi company went out of business in September 2004 and was bought (together with the assets of Jouef, Arnold and Pocher) by Hornby International in December 2004.

The Rivarossi Trolleybus

In 1950 Rivarossi introduced their 'Minobus' trolleybus system. The bus was modelled after the Alfa-Romeo T110AF bus and was in 1/80. Both the bus and the track were Rivarossi's own development, and not compatible with the more commonly known Eheim buses. The body of the model was made of bakelite and had headlights and interior lighting. The system operated on both AC and DC current at 14-16 volt. The bus has been made upto 1957 and was available as a kit and ready-made model.

The bus was released in four colours:

Ref# Model Colour
Minobus Alfa-Romeo T110AF blue/white, red/silver roof, green/silver roof, yellow/brown roof
SM Minobus Alfa-Romeo T110AF blue/white, red/silver roof, green/silver roof, yellow/brown roof

Other Rivarossi models

Ready-made models of a tractor/trailer and some car models, the Fiat 1100 and the Mercedes W154 are made of metal, all others are plastic. All models were sold as flat-car loads, but they may have been sold seperately as well.

Rivarossi - Wiking

In the 1960s Rivarossi cooperated with Wiking, Wiking models were not only used as loads but also sold under the Rivarossi name. The models that were sold were the standard Wiking models from that period, packed in a Rivarossi box.
