carmodels with a surprise
Truckmodels with moving parts had already been around for quite some time, and carmodels with opening doors had also already been made, but when Herpa introduced the Ferrari Testarossa with opening hood in 1986 this came as quite a surprise to the collectors of 87th scale models.
For the first time, a manufacturer of 87th scale models succeeded in creating a model that featured an enginecover that could be opened and at the same time managed to create a model where this had been crafted in such a way that it lacked the typical gaps in the bodywork so well-known from 1/64 and 1/43 scale models.
Since there are not that many carmodels like this, these carmodels with a surprise would make a nice theme for a small collection or maybe a small addition to a bigger collection. These are the models with, sometimes well hidden, surprises we have found sofar:
